There was a time when no one expected anything good from the villages of Bukabwa and Kome Island. No one imagined these children learning English, talking about Jesus, or dreaming big for their futures. But that time is over! The strongholds are breaking.

For generations these regions were defined by lack of roads, services, and opportunities. Parents carried quiet grief, knowing their children would likely face the same limitations they were raised in.

But today, that legacy is being rewritten. Through our Education Program, children, once forgotten, are being trained up as the next generation of doctors, teachers and leaders in the nation of Tanzania.

Between our two schools in Bukabwa and Kome Island, there are 250+ students currently in need of a sponsor. Each one carries a dream, a hope, and has a God-given purpose on their life.

How do I sponsor a child?

Sponsoring a child is simple! Start by clicking here. On this page you will have the option, if desired, to set parameters for location, gender, and grade. Click search and the page will be refreshed with your search criteria.

Click on the picture of a child to reach his or her bio and learn more about each student. Once you have chosen the child you would like to sponsor, simply click sponsor now. This will take you to a donation cart where you have the option to add another child or complete your donation. The final step is entering your information. If you already have an account with Twelve21, you may click “sign in” at the top of the screen. This will allow you to autofill the information we have on file.

What can I expect once I sponsor a child?

Within a month of signing up to sponsor a child, you will receive in the mail a welcome packet that includes a current picture, prayer card, and more information about the program.

We also recommend you follow Twelve21 Global on Facebook and Instagram, as we often share stories and updates from our schools.

How long will my sponsorship last?

At a minimum, we ask that you prayerfully consider being his/her sponsor for two years.

Because some sponsors feel guilty or ashamed to cancel their sponsorship, please be assured no child will ever be turned away because of unfulfilled, canceled, or suspended sponsorships. Jesus is our source and will always provide what is needed. We are honored to have you as a partner as long as you wish to be one.

How do I access my account?

Whether you give online or by check, an account is created for you when you begin to sponsor a child. To access your account, visit www.twelve21global.org and click the “login” button.

Through your Twelve21 Global giving account, you can:

Does a child have to profess Christian beliefs to be enrolled?

Absolutely not! Twelve21 Global receives vulnerable children into our program, regardless of their faith background. In communities where we serve, many of which are heavily influenced by witchcraft, children may come from families that are not religious or practice another religion, such as Islam.

At our schools, a child learns about the love of Christ through engaging in worship, prayer, studying God’s Word, and other spiritual development activities. Children are never forced or coerced to profess faith in Jesus. If they do so, it is by God’s grace alone and at an age where such a choice is culturally appropriate.

Can I send a birthday/Christmas gift to my sponsored child?

We do not take donations or gifts intended for individual children, whether for a birthday or for Christmas. We do not want to create an environment where some children feel more special than others.

However, on their birthday, you are welcome to send an additional contribution to the Education Fund in honor of your sponsored child. That gift will be used towards our annual celebration event at the end of the school year, where all children are celebrated and honored.

Can I write letters specifically to my child?

We do not permit letter-exchanging between individual children and sponsors. Not all children in our program have a sponsor with which to correspond. Moreover, most of our children have experienced abandonment and rejection, and we do not want to unintentionally allow the enemy a way to remind them of their past.

Nevertheless, our children in Tanzania would still love to receive mail from you, their friend! If you choose to write, please address your letter with “Dear Friends,” and our teachers will read it to all of our children as an extra encouragement. Because we can’t give your letter to a specific child, please keep the contents general. Feel free to tell them stories about how God is working in your life and how you are praying for their education and growth.

How do I know about the development and growth of the specific child I sponsor?

At the end of each year, you will receive a packet in the mail with an updated picture of your child, a brief report about his/her growth, and a prayer card with specific needs. We want you to know how to pray for him/her in the upcoming year.

Can I find out more about my sponsored child?

Your child’s parent/guardian has approved the information that you receive in the sponsorship packet. As some children might share more details than others, we ask that you respect their right to disclose only as much as they are comfortable with. What is your child protection policy?

Twelve21 Global is unwaveringly committed to protecting children, vulnerable communities, and anyone serving in our ministry. We abhor any misuse of power, status, or trusted position for any sexual abuse or other exploitative purposes.

Therefore, we have zero tolerance for abuse incidents against children or other people in the communities we serve—either by staff or any others connected with the ministry. We endeavor to expose and root out opportunities for abuse through our prevention and training efforts. Continuous improvement of safeguarding steps, which emphasize the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, is an ongoing effort aimed at achieving the highest standard of protection.
